Definition: Nullator

The nullator is the one-port whose V-I characteristic \(\mathcal{F}\) contains only \((0, 0)\)

\[ \mathcal{F} = \{(0,0)\} \]

Notation

Nullators are denoted in circuit diagrams using the following symbol:

Nullator Symbol

The nullator is a theoretical one-port which always has zero voltage across it and zero current flowing through it.

Theorem: Linearity of the Nullator

The nullator is strictly linear.
